101 | Babel Babe & Basset

I'm in Montreal by the way - meaning I got a scanner I can use ! I guess this city inspires me to draw random artworks like all those ones. I had a hard time choosing whether I would draw a dog or a chimpanzee and the basset won. I'm still finding out new things about Photoshop so I experimented a little with the colors.

Oh, and, only one week left before this !!

Me voilà revenu à Montréal !! Plus sur le sujet plus tard. En tous cas, j'étrenne déjà le scanner de la médiathèque de ma fac !! Wood s'en vient, et surtout, plus que quelques jours avant ça !!

Sinon, au sujet de cette illustration, je voulais revenir aux illustrations random que j'ai fait l'an dernier (ces illustrations sans buts et sans histoires). J'ai hésité entre un chimpanzé et un basset mais c'est le chien qui a gagné.

Tiens, c'est le 101ème post... J'aurais pu dessiner un dalmatien...

100 | Pulp and Unicorn

Now it's really my 100th post on the blog !! / Là c'est vraiment mon 100ème post sur le blog !!

I started drawing this trying to reproduce a portrait of 30s-60s actor James Stewart - that didn't work out. I drew this for a friend from my summer job, Jean. As a future succesful film director (check the video he made for the Philips CinemaTV contest -in which he also plays the butler - just below), I believed he would appreciate an artwork inspired by old American detective movies.

J'ai commencé à dessiner cette illustration en essayant de reproduire la photographie du célèbre James Stewart. Je l'ai fait pour un ami et collègue de mon stage d'été, Jean. En tant que futur cinéaste à succès (le court-métrage qu'il a fait pour le concours PhilipsCinemaTV - dans lequel il joue aussi le majordome - est juste en dessous), j'ai pensé qu'il aimerait bien un dessin rappelant les vieux polars américains. 99 | I didn't know what a Stormtrooper was...

One of the reasons why I can't really proclaim my geekiness is the fact that I must be one of the only males in the whole Western hemisphere who has never seen any Star Wars movie (except disparate parts of the Phantom Menace). Unlike most of you, I didn't fall in love with it when I was a kid - as I never got to see it - and growing up I never tried to see it. Maybe, someday...

Une des raisons pour laquelle je ne peux revendiquer pleinement ma geekitude, c'est que... je suis l'une des seules personnes en Occident à n'avoir jamais vu aucun Star Wars. Contrairement à la plupart d'entre vous, je n'en suis pas tombé amoureux étant petit puisque je n'ai pas eu l'occasion de les voir à l'époque. Du coup, en grandissant, mon intérêt pour cette saga ne s'est jamais développé... Peut-être, un jour...

Till then, here a fan-art for my friend Pierre who's setting up a Star Wars contest on his PBEM website. He needed a writing Stormtrooper, as there doesn't seem to be any on the web. I drew this one using a doll lent by a friend (thanks Anne-Gaelle) so, if there's any mistake on the suit, file a complaint against Hasbro !!

En attendant donc, j'ai fait ce fan-art pour un ami, Pierre, qui organise un concours au sujet de Star-Wars sur son site de PBEM (play by e-mail). Il avait besoin d'un Stormtrooper en train d'écrire... et étonnament, on en trouve aucun sur le web (je sais, j'ai cherché). J'ai donc dessiné celui-ci à partir d'une poupée prêtée par une amie (d'ailleurs, ça faisait des années que j'avais pas touché à un jouet !)... donc, s'il y a des fautes dans le costume, plaignez-vous à Hasbro !!

Here's a little comics (sorry, untranslated) found in the depths of my computer. I drew it last summer, as the first post of a blog supposed to be relating the life of a Frenh student in Montreal. I gave it up before starting it (even if I did create the blog and set some things up). As it's been in my computer for ages, here it is.
Voici une petite bédé retrouvée dans mon ordi. Dessinée l'été dernier, ce devait être le premier post d'un blog racontant la vie d'un étudiant français à Montréal. J'ai abandonné l'idée, même si le blog était déjà créé et la bédé postée (en privé). Comme il traîne depuis près d'un an dans mon ordi, le voici.

But if this particular idea is gone, creating a blog entirely dedicated to a webcomics is among my numerous projects for September. So be prepared, in English this time, and more on it later !
Tout ça pour dire que si ce projet là a été annulé, celui d'un blog entièrement consacré à un webcomics ne l'a pas été et j'ai même déjà fait pas mal de préparatifs. Plus de news bientôt !

Et au fait, il s'agit de mon 100ème post sur le blog !!
[edit] : En fait, après avoir renuméroté tous les posts et supprimés les posts inutiles ou les brouillons jamais publiés, non, ce n'est pas mon 100ème post mais le 97ème. : p
