109 | October's horned host / L'autre hôte d'Octobre

Yay !! October starts tomorrow !! To celebrate the Month of the Monsters, KJF published an ad to find models in the supernatural community ! The photoshoots went pretty well... except the last one. As KJF can't update the blog from where he is right now, I'm replacing him for the month of October !! Nine monsters will come to visit and, on October 31st, you'll be asked to vote for your favorite Monster of the Month !!

It starts tomorrow !! Be there !

Youpi !! Le mois d'octobre commence demain !! Pour fêter le Mois des Monstres, KJF a passé une annonce pour trouver des modèles dans la communauté surnaturelle! Les séances photos se sont plutôt bien passées... jusqu'à celle de la pleine lune... Comme KJF est dans l'incapacité de mettre le blog à jour, c'est moi qui le remplacerait pour le mois d'octobre ! Neuf monstres viendront donc ce mois-ci et le 31 octobre, ce sera à vous de voter pour votre Monstre du Mois préféré, avec une surprise à la clé !!

Another one of my artworks-that-look-like-a-story. I really let my nerdness express itself ; machines, robots, nice-looking-chicks (strawberry blondes - twins !!) and a positive central character who you can tell has been through hard times !! This is so fanboys material !! ^^

Encore une de mes illustrations qui ressemblent à des histoires. Celle-ci fait vraiment geek ; des machines, un robot, des jolies jumelles et un personnage central qui a l'air positif et combatif mais dont on peut deviner le passé sombre... Fans de SF, il n'y a pas de quoi !

105 | Québecois Lumberjack / Bûcheron du Québec !

UPDATE - April 1st, 2013

I've wanted to update some of the Collection pieces for a while now, and given this is one of the most viewed artworks on the blog, I thought it wouldn't hurt if it looked a little better. So here is the update version of the Lumber-jock.

J'avais envie de retravailler ce dessin depuis un bout de temps, et, étant donné que c'est l'illustration la plus visitée du blog, je me disais que ça ne pourrait pas faire de mal d'offrir un truc plus polissé à ceux qui tombent ici par hasard. Donc voilà, c'est maintenant fait. Je vais sans doute m'attaquer à d'autres illus populaires du blog.

Here it is !! The artwork I couldn't manage to draw the one I refer to in the previous post. It's a little more cartoonish than most of my late work, a little like this one. I'm kinda glad cause it realy didn't take me long to draw and I barely used a model to do it, unlike the first trials that didn't give any result. So, what do you think ?

La voilà ! L'illustration que je n'arrivais pas à faire (j'en parle ici). C'est un peu plus cartoon que ce que j'ai fait dernièrement (rapport aux proportions, un peu comme celle-ci) mais j'en suis bien content car j'ai à peine eu besoin de modèles pour le croquis. Qu'en pensez-vous ?

104 | Some dates... / Y'a des dates comme ça...

... you're just useless. I have some weird drawing habits. One of them is I like drawing art on peculiar dates like with numbers that follow each other or parallelisms. So, I wanted to draw something on September 8th (because the French date is 08/09/10) but I just couldn't draw the character I wanted the way I wanted. The same for September 9th (09/09/10) and September 10th (10/09/10 !! - I'm really mad at myself for this one, it was one freakin' gem !!) And now we're on 11/09/10 (even if the order ain't good) but I'm kinda still hung-over from yesterday night to even want to try to draw... So here's an old picture of your artist's former room's desk, taken a little before I took off to Paris.

(English people, try to put it in order !! : 1) paper Eiffel Tower my little sister sent me 2) various tickets for shows and parties 3) map of La Ronde, Montreal's amusement park 4) Indian Ink for my Arts class in 7th grade 5) Latest artwork at the time 6) 3D glasses from Avatar 7) All you need to draw and write 8) Wood first versions albums 9) Folder of artworks from highschool 10) Vicious laptop connected on a Parisian radio station.

Il y a des fois comme ça où même quand on veut on n'y arrive pas. Par exemple, j'ai une habitude de dessin un peu bébête qui consiste à faire une illustration ou une planche pour immortaliser certaines dates telles que celle ou les nombres se suivent où avec des parallelismes. Ainsi, je voulais faire une illustration le 08/09/10 mais j'ai pas réussi à dessiner le personnage que que je voulais comme je le voulais (ce sera sans doute ma prochaine illustration - je n'abandonne pas !!). Pareil pour le 09/09/10 et le 10/09/10 (ça, je m'en veux vraiment d'avoir loupé cette date). Reste le 11/09/10 mais l'ordre n'est pas bon et comme j'ai pas plus d'inspiration et que j'ai des relents de gueule de bois, voilà plutôt un post avec une photo prise l'an dernier dans mon ancienne chambre avant mon déménagement. Juste pour dire, quoi.

103 | The Countdown is (almost) over...

Just while I'm writing this down, there's only forty minutes between you and the five first pages of my new webcomics / blog New Arch City, so I'm posting two previews here real quick - so they can still be called "preview".

Au moment où j'écris ces lignes, il reste moins d'une heure avant que les cinq premières pages de mon nouveau webcomics/blog New Arch City ne soient publiées d'un coup, alors je poste ces deux pages très vite pour qu'elles puissent encore être considérées comme des previews. Et moins d'une semaine avant le début de la version française !

102 | On a beach, in Costa Frica / Pendant ce temps, sur une plage du Costa Frica

Costa Frica is a fictional country that belongs to the same imaginary world as New Arch City.

Here I am, in Montreal, QC. My third year as a Communication student just started two days ago. I moved from the college's dorms to an appartment with three roommates. Some things changed, but my compulsive need for drawing didn't !

I originally drew this four months ago, planning to post it to announce the beginning of summer. Quite ironically, I didn't - and neither did I go to the beach or anywhere (I was in Paris, yes, but I used to live there, it's not like it's a holiday destination.) as I worked all summer. Fortunately, it was a great job during which I read a lot of comics, and got to get better at using computer tools and I used some of this new knowledge in this picture.
Also, only three days left !!

Ça y est, je suis à Montréal !! Ma rentrée a eu lieu mercredi dernier. J'ai déménagé des résidences du campus et j'habite à présent dans un appart avec trois colocs. Pas mal de choses ont changé, pas mon envie de dessiner !
J'avais fait ce dessin de plage avant de retourner à Paris, pour fêter le début de l'été. Ironiquement, je ne l'ai pas posté à l'époque - d'ailleurs, je ne suis pas allé à la plage, pas plus que je n'ai eu de vacances puisque j'avais un stage tout l'été. Heureusement, c'était un stage très cool durant lequel j'ai eu à lire pas mal de bédés et m'améliorer à l'utilisation des outils informatiques, une expérience dont a bénéficié la colorisation de ce dessin.

Et aussi ce que vous attendez tous commence ce mardi !!
